Jobseeker FAQ

Q: Who will CareerFountain distribute my resume to?

A: CareerFountain is very selective about who we send your resume to. Only qualified professional third party recruiters, search firms and staffing agencies are invited to sign up with CareerFountain to receive resumes from our members. These are the industries premium professionals who have agreed to respect CareerFountain terms protecting our job seekers.

© CF Q: Will my resume be spammed or posted on-line, available to the general public?

A: Resumes are never sent unsolicited, or posted on-line accessible to direct employers or the general public. Only those recruiters who sign up and qualify will receive resumes.

Q: Why aren't direct employers eligible to receive resumes from CareerFountain?

A: Employers pay third party recruiters (also called head-hunters, search firms and staffing agencies) to fill the best positions with candidates like you. The employer is willing to pay that fee, because they feel the recruiter provides a very valuable service. Employers feel they would not have found a great employee like you without the recruiters assistance. Since the recruiter only gets paid if they fill a position with their candidate, there is no incentive to present any candidate who is publicly available to the employer directly. Resume distribution services that include direct employers in their lists discourage recruiters from presenting you to their employer clients.

Not all jobs are posted. Recruiters are often hired to find candidates for confidential or "hidden" jobs.

Resumes from CareerFountain get more attention because recruiters know we don't also send it to their client employer directly.

Q: Can I exclude my current or former employers from distribution?

A: Yes, for two reasons. Direct employers are not eligible for distribution, and we notify recruiters of any employers you want excluded from consideration.

Q: CareerFountain has earned an outstanding reputation for producing very positive results, even though other sites claim much higher distribution numbers. Why?

A: That's the reality of today's resume distribution which gets overwhelmed by the shear flood volume of resumes. So many resumes are received that very few even get read, so it's easy to get ignored. It's not how many resumes get sent, it's how many get read and presented to the right people.

When your resume is sent from a trusted source like CareerFountain, you'll have a better chance of it receiving attention. We understand what motivates professional recruiters, so they don't waste time dealing with job hunters who are not serious. Less committed job seekers are eliminated because CareerFountain only distributes resumes from members who have paid a fee, obtained a referral, or a sponsorship.

Q: CareerFountain is trusted as a secure source. What does that mean, and why is that integrity important to me?

A: Recruiters and their clients enjoy the trust and confidence of knowing resumes coming from CareerFountain have protection of proprietary VirusArmor™ security software. That trust means when your resume is more likely to get considered and forwarded to the next person in the hiring decision process.

Q: I've been disappointed with some other resume distributions in the past. Why should I expect CareerFountain to be more effective?

A: Career Fountain makes the extra effort ensure the quality and validity of our recruiter database. These important features protect your resume from being sent unsolicited, or being used for a purpose that abuses your trust.

Q: What kind of guarantee do you offer, and how does it work?

A: CareerFountain grew from an informal network of friends, who referred the best job opportunities to each other. Your successful job search, your continued support and referrals of your friends continues to be very important to us. We offer a full, no-hassle refund if you are not completely satisfied.

Q: Are recruiters allowed to use my CareerFountain contact information for sending me emails advertising other products?

A: NO! Sending spam or junk mail to our members is NOT allowed.

Our Terms of Service prohibit advertising of any kind to the candidates beyond inviting your visit to their web site. Abuses should be reported to CareerFountain. Any violation of our Terms of Service may result in removal from our system and possible litigation.

Q: Another service I used produced lots of bounce-backs and auto-responders. Should I expect this from CareerFountain?

A: No! Your resume will be distributed from our trusted CareerFountain.com address. Bounce-backs and auto-responders won't clutter your mail box, but allow us to confirm and maintain the quality of our distribution list.

Q: Why are resumes sent out in plain (ASCII) text?

A: We only distribute your resume in plain text because most recruiters and some email programs do not accept attachments, or simply ignore other formats. We restrict other formats so your resume gets the maximum distribution exposure, most trusted security, occupies the least e-mail storage space by recruiters and uses a minimum of internet bandwidth.

Once a recruiter identifies a prospective candidate for a particular position, the recruiter can approach the candidate and suggest an expanded resume. That expanded resume emphasizing additional qualities of interest can then be in another format, or attachment and e-mailed directly to the recruiter.

Q: Do I contact the recruiters through CareerFountain, or do we work together directly?

A: Every recruiter that receives your resume, and is interested in talking further, will contact you directly.
